Another Satisfied Hair Club Client
I’d like to share my experience with The Hair Club so that no one else has to go through what I have.
At the age of 24, my girlfriend at the time told me that she needed to talk to me about something important. She asked me to sit down and she proceeded to tell me that she thinks that I’m going bald and asked me what I planned on doing about it. Nice huh? Well, to make a long brutal story short, and after I kicked that @i #!* to the curb I did what most men probably do who are concerned with their hair loss, I went the The Hair Club.
I mean these are the guys that I grew up seeing on TV everyday. It seemed like the thing to do if you had a problem with hair loss and was interested in hair replacement. After my consultation I was so excited to get my hair back and my life back. The lady I had the consultation with told me that it’s a completely natural process and that my new hair would be even better and more manageable then the hair that I lost. WOW! Read more

Question: I’ve been taking Avodart for 4 1/2 yrs and got good results until about a year ago when it seems to be reverting back a little. Can the body build a resistance to dutasteride or other drugs and lose some
effectiveness over time? Thanks.
Answer: As you probably aware, clinical studies have not been performed on Avodart with respect to hair loss. We can only extrapolate from those clinical experience and studies done on men taking Propecia. These medications decrease the production of DHT by reducing the concentration of 5-alpha reductase which catalyses the transformation testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The body does not build up resistance to DHT blockers. Propecia 5 year study results showed that while Propecia did continue to prevent hair loss, there was a progressive decrease in the amount of hair grown over the 5-year period. See http://www.propecia.com/finasteride/propecia/hcp/prod_data_highlights/

Avodart could have similar behavior in that less hair is seen over time but as in the case of Propecia, the amount of hair remaining after 5 years is significantly more that one would see if placebo or no medication were taken. So yes, medications can lose a degree of effectiveness over time but in the case of DHT blockers the effect is far superior to not using the medications at all. If you are not using minoxidil, it would be recommended to add this to your regimen. The new foam preparation has been very well received with far fewer side effects than the liquid.

Coffee Beans May Help Women With Hair Loss
Scottish scientists Bill and Iain Forbes believe that the healing properties of green coffee beans can help woman with thinning hair. Approximately 40% of the worlds hair loss sufferers are women, with the vast majority suffering with androgenetic alopecia, also known as common female pattern hair loss. Genetic hair loss can strike women at any age after puberty, and can dramatically effect the quality of life of those it affects.
Last week UK based Boots chemists, unveiled its “Expert Hair Loss Treatment Spray for Women.” According to the Boots company, clinical trials conducted at Glasgow University proved to significantly increase hair increase hair growth while improving the thickness of exiting hair. These trials found that 80% of women claimed to have improvement.
The American Hair Loss Association is being cautiously optimistic about the efficacy of this new product. We are hoping that further studies will be conducted in the UK and in the US that will enable us to better understand how green coffee beans can positively impact hair growth.
