In a tongue in cheek effort to emphasize the reality of hair loss, Merck & Co., the maker’s of Propecia have produced several humorous videos that hit the nail on the head when it comes to how men really feel about the prospect of going bald. Two-thirds of American men will suffer with some degree of hair loss by the time they reach the age of thirty-five, yet the fact remains that the mainstream media and society as a whole still practically ignores the devastating emotional effect hair loss can have on the self esteem of those it afflicts.
The truth is no matter how society attempts to trivialize it, hair does matter for many and it can effect every aspect of the hair loss sufferer’s life. From interpersonal relationships to professional life, hair loss can color everything we do and the way the world reacts to us. With this said, many hair loss sufferers are extremely well adjusted and have learned to roll with the punches and of course thrive in life. For others however, it’s not as easy to deal with.
